"How could a ship wind up way out here?"

"Well, I'm no expert, but it could be that the hydro-thermic properties of this region caused hurricane force ice storms that cause the ocean to freeze and then melt and then refreeze resulting in a semi-solid migrating land mass that would land a ship, right about here."
